Stoneyford Christmas Party 2019

On Sunday 15th of December last Stoneyford Development Association hosted its Annual Christmas Party for the senior citizens of the area.  The Stoneyford Community Centre was beautifully and tastefully decorated by the committee and the warm welcome afforded to each of the guests marked the beginning of the Festive Season for all.

The Fear an Tí for the occasion was the inimitable Tom King. Tom is an excellent MC, he has the gift of being able to encourage and cajole people into performing, dancing or just to have a good time. Under Tom’s guidance the evening rolled along at a nice snappy pace and a good time was had by all.

The entertainment was organized by Mala Raggett and we enjoyed listening to the beautiful singing of her protégés,“The Rising Stars” group who came all the way from Carrick on Suir to entertain us.

The food supplied by Cullen’s Kitchen was delicious and needles to say bhí rogha gach bia agus togha gach dí for everyone.

The first music session was provided by the inimitable Tony Egan on keyboards, and what a fine keyboard he is. Tony gave excellent accompaniment to singer Liam O’Dwyer. Liam was an excellent fear an tí and worked the audience brilliantly. He got the crowd dancing and clapping along with the greatest of ease.

The second session was provided by Jim Byrne and Billy Barron. Jim and Billy are regulars in Stoneyford and once again they excelled themselves. When the music was over and they turned out the lights there is a rumor that the festivities continued long into the night in a local hostelry.
