Ageing

Age is just a number said she,

It’s really what’s on the inside

I’m sure you do agree

Wrinkles give you character

Just look at me,

With wrinkles like the map of Ireland

Circled in a Vee

Grey hair looks so dignified

and suits everyone said she

but her thinning crown and glory

was all that I could see

Don’t worry about your posture

or your creaking knees said she,

It really doesn’t matter

that your boobs can tip your knees

Age is just a number

And what’s in front of me,

A lovely optimistic friend

At the age of ninety-three
