Readers in Our Parishes:
Reflect on the importance of Scripture in our faith and at our liturgies. Two evenings, led by Prof Seamus O’Connell and Ms Olivia Maher, will offer a chance for our Ministers of the Word, new and existing, to come together to reflect on their ministry, and their important service, as part of an Advent journey. I would encourage all those who read in our parish to head along to these short evenings. on Thursday 6th. December and Thursday 13th. December at 7.30p.m. in St. Kieran’s College
The Future of Our Parishes:
An Evening Exploring the Changing Nature of Parishes Today. Our parishes are changing shape – we have fewer priests and thankfully more people are involved than every before. Why not come along to an evening reflecting on the changing nature of our parishes chaired by Bishop Dermot Farrell. Fr Albert McDonnell and Ms Gemma Mulligan will reflect on the shape of parishes today and into the future – on Monday 3rd. December 2018 at 7.30p.m. in St. Kieran’s College.
Parish Pastoral Council Meeting:
A discussion took place on the recent week-end survey and the Day Conference held on Saturday 24th. in St. Kieran’s College.
The Seven Principles agreed as a way forward can be summarised as follows:
- Our dependence on God and to recognize the guidance of the Holy Spirit on our journey.
- The importance of prayer to guide us and a creative vibrant celebration of the Sunday Eucharist.
- The identity of each parish community should be preserved, but much greater corporation between neighbouring parishes.
- Real consultation at every level, involving laity, parish groups, religious and clergy. Any new structures must be part of a diocesan initiative where we move together across the diocese. Proper communication at diocesan and parish level.
- At both parish and diocesan level we need to invest in people and in their training.
- The Christmas Timetable was also discussed.
First Holy Communion:
The Family Masses in preparation for First Holy Communion will be celebrated on Saturday 15th. December in Stoneyford Church at 6.30p.m and in Hugginstown Church on Sunday 16th. at 11.15a.m.
