“Alone”: – A Services for Over 60’s
Alone is a national organisation that supports older people to age at home. They work with people over the age of 60 to provide and coordinate access to any services they need. Alone creates unique solutions for each older person working in partnership with all services, friends and family, giving them options for the type of support that’s best for them, regardless of their situation. Supported by volunteers, they offer a range of services including: Befriending, Social Groups, Events, Housing with Support, Support Coordination, Technology, and Campaigns for Change. Alone also offers volunteering opportunities of befriending an older person. Befriending visits require a volunteer to commit to visiting an older person one hour a week to offer companionship to those who may feel socially isolated or lonely. St. Lazerian’s House is a low dependency residential care unit for older people. A vacancy has arisen for Administration Support two days per week. Memory Technologh Resource Room:
The Memory Technology Resource Room is run by an Occupational Therapist and showcases a wide variety of assistive equipment. The Room is open every Tuesday on the grounds of St. Columba’s Hospital, Thomastown. It is free to attend and it provides people with memory difficulties and their carers the opportunity to see and discuss the benefits of assistive technology equipment that is now available.
