Carrickshock G.A.A.

Saturday was a very mixed day for Carrickshock Seniors and Minors. Both teams  put in performances that probably deserved victories, but came away with a draw and a loss.

When Michael Rice put one over from the sideline (in off the post!) 2 minutes into injury time, it looked like the seniors were deservedly on their way to the Quarter Final. But a Conor Fogarty free a minute later sent it to a replay on a scoreline of 1.18 to 2.15. Replay will be next weekend. A bullet of a goal from John Power was the highlight of the game. And plenty of positives to put us in the right frame of mind for next week! The minors came back from a slow start to dominate large spells of their league final. But they were made to regret a couple of missed goal chances in the 2nd half, when a mishit free was pounced on to put Blacks and Whites 2 up with 7 minutes left. The boys brought it back to the minimum but just couldn’t get that equalizing score, final score 2.10 to 2.9. But they can come out of it with confidence looking ahead to a Championship Quarter Final in 2 weeks.
