Mass in honour of  St. Oliver Plunkett will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Church, Kilkenny, on Wednesday July 11th. at 7.00pm.

Veneration of and Blessing with 1st Class Relic of St. Oliver will take place after Mass.

Newmarket/ Hugginstown Social Club.

Social Club Annual Outing will take place on Sunday 15th. July.  Bus will leave outside Hugginstown Church at 11.45a.m. sharp.

Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage “The Way”,

Youth Summer Festival:

Youth 2000 Summer Festival, Cistercian College, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary will take place from Thursday 16th. to Sunday 19th. August this year  –  for Young People aged 16 to 35.   This is an opportunity to experience the Catholic Faith and to meet many new people, with over 1000 young people from all corners of Ireland attending.  The Festival is donation only and free buses for those travelling from all around Ireland. For more information or to book online: visit www.youth2000.ie.

Carricksgock G.A.A Club.

The Club wish to thank all who supported their recent Golf Classic at Callan Golf Club. Carrickshock G.A.A and Camogie Clubs wish to invite you to join our ‘Fittest Superstar’ development fundraiser on Saturday July 21st. in Hotel Kilkenny.  Tickets are now available; contact any club member. This promises to be a great night of thrills and spills and all are very welcome.

World Meeting of Families:

  1. On Sunday 26th. August, Mass will be Celebrated by Pope Francis in the Phoenix Park at 3.00p.m.  A bus has been booked by the Parish for those wishing to travel. Tickets have also been booked.  If you travel by bus there is no need to book your own tickets for Sunday 26th.  Please leave your name with any of the following as soon as possible if you are interested in travelling by bus.  Tel:  056 776 8693  or  056 776 8008 or 056 776 8985.
  2. As part of the World Meeting of Families, Pope Francis will meet couples preparing for or who have recentlycelebrated the Sacrament of Marriage, at an event in the Pro-Cathedral, Dublin at 3.30p.m.on Saturday 25th August.To facilitate Garda Security Clearance, it is essential that details of couples who wish to go would give their names by Friday 13th. July to 056 776 8693
  3. Each Parish in Ireland is asked to nominate a family to attend the Festival of Families in Croke Park with Pope Francis at 7.30p.m. on Saturday August 25th.Every Parish in the country will be allocated 10 tickets for this event. It is recommended and encouraged that the selection of families at Parish level be done in the most open and transparent way as possible. It is envisaged that each Parish will be given a unique code which will enable us to upload the names of the nominated family onto the WMOF registration system for this event. These codes will hopefully be distributed the week beginning July 16th. and parishes have until July 31st. to upload names and details on WMOF system.  If families in the parish are interested in going to Croke Park on Saturday August 25th; please give your names by Friday 13th. July to 056 776 8693.
  4. An Evening Prayer to mark the Opening of World Meeting of Families on Tuesday August 21st. will be held in St Mary’s Cathedral for the whole Diocese . All are very welcome .

in need of support? Then Grow is here to help you. Grow is a community-based mental health organisation which holds weekly meetings in your local community.  Grow meetings provide help and support to anyone experiencing mental health difficulties or struggling with any aspect of their mental wellbeing.  Meetings are confidential and no referral is necessary, simply come along. Grow promotes breaking social isolation and promoting social connectedness and is centred around the idea that ‘I alone can do itbut I cannot do it alone’.

IT Training:

Age Action Ireland, is offering basic IT training free of charge to older people in their local area. They run the award-winning Getting Started Programme,  providing basic one-to-one IT Training for older people and would like to engage with the community before the classes start in September 2018.  Spaces are limited and may be reserved by individuals contacting Age Action’s Getting Started team on 01 475 6989 or gettingstarted@ageaction.ie

The South Kilkenny Historical Society:

The Society will join locals and others on the Annual Climb of Tory Hill for Fraochan Sunday, which takes place on Sunday July 8th.  Climbing Tory Hill on the second Sunday of July has been a tradition that pre-dates Christianity.
