Business Tourism Meeting.

A ‘Business Tourism’ meeting will take place at the Community Centre Stoneyford tomorrow Tuesday at 1.00pm. All businesses in the locality are invited to attend.

Stoneyford Tidy Towns 2018:

The Tidy Towns Group are planning a major charge this year for the National Tidy Towns Competition. Initial judging commences late May early June. Village Renewal Scheme 2018.

Following consultations between the SDA Officers and the County Council official’s plans are at an advanced stage for the submission of a major new proposal by the Kilkenny County Council for serious funding via the EU Town & Village Renewal Scheme to complete major works proposed under the scheme. White smoke is expected towards the end of April.

Heritage Week –August 2018.

In conjunction with Heritage Week 2018 we will publish a booklet on the ‘Built Heritage of the Village’. It will include a list on protected structures in the village and district as well as the Churches, Mills, Schools, Big Houses and Bridges in the area. It is also intended to mount the ‘Old’ Photographic Exhibition at the Community Centre in August. Finally a potted history of Carrickshock Hurling Club will also be published this summer.

Knockdrinna Café now open.

We are pleased to announce the Helen Finnegan has reopened her very popular Café at Main St. The usual selection of delicious homemade food choices will be on offer. Come and relax in the very homely farmyard environment in the heart of the village.

Abandoned Vehicle:

The owner of an abandoned vehicle in the village is requested to remove same as soon as possible. Kilkenny County Council and the Gardai have been notified.

Learn to Waltz, Tango, Quick Step etc.

Yes learn to Waltz, Tango, Quick Step, Foxtrot, Jive and Samba at Stoneyford Community Centre. Classes commence Wednesday 4th April from 8pm to 9.30pm. €10.

Dog Pooh at Community Centre:

This continues to be a problem and is a serious health risk for our children playing there. Dog owners are requested NOT to let their dogs off their leads. It is an offence not to clean up your Dog’s pooh or to release your dog from its lead in a public place. Dog owners are requested to Bin the Dog pooh and do not discard the bag in a ditch or on a grass verge. Gardai & Environment Dept. of Kilkenny County Council have been notified.

Spring Clean-up: Stoneyford Litter Pick:

The major clean-up of the year ‘The Spring Clean-up’ will take place on Saturday 7th April at 10,30am. We invite all to partake including adults and children. Please clean the immediate area in front of your house, grassed areas, roadsides, estates, footpaths etc. Bin all litter please. If everyone looks after the public area near their home the workload on our volunteers will be reduced greatly. A Litter free environment is the responsibility of all of us. See it-Bin it.

Bingo Session in the Community Centre, Stoneyford on every Tuesday at 8.30p.m.

 

Newmarket/Hugginstown News

Newmarket/Hugginstown Social Club:

The Newmarket/Hugginstown Social Club will have their ‘Get Together’ on Tuesday 27th. March in “Gáirdín an Ghorta” from 2.00p.m to 4.30p.m.. All are very welcome.

Gairdín an Gorta – Draw:

The results of the Draw which took place on Tuesday 20th. March can be viewed on Hugginstown Church Notice Board.

Many thanks to all who sold tickets and supported the Draw. Work on Gairdín an Gorta Centre will begin in late April.

Croke Park Trip

Carrickshock Under 8s have this year been selected to take part in the Leinster ‘Go Games’ in Croke Park. The boys are making the trip next Tuesday, 3rd April, where the boys will enjoy the full Croke Park experience, using the dressing rooms, running out through the tunnel and playing a game on the famous turf. Enjoy yourselves boys

Pulse-wave Ireland is holding Heart Screening clinics locally. Clinics on Thursday 29th. March in Hotel Kilkenny: and on Friday 6th. April in the Brandon House Hotel, New Ross.   Appointments are available from 11.00a.m. to 8.00p.m. each day. Call 087 715 1623 to make an appointment as spaces are limited.
