Tidy Towns 2018:
A meeting of the Tidy Towns Group will be held at the Community Centre, Stoneyford on Monday 15th. January at 9.00p.m. Plans for the year will be formulated and outlined. All are welcome.
Nostalgia Evening:
An evening of Nostalgia will be held at the Community Centre, Stoneyford on Monday 22nd. January at 7.30p.m. A video recording and photos taken at the 2017 Easter Remembrance Ceremony, as well as photos from the recent Senior Citizens Christmas Party will be shown. People are asked to bring along their Old Photographs which will be considered for a permanent Exhibition to be mounted at the Community Centre in 2018. Photos will be scanned and returned on the evening.
Stoneyford History & Heritage Society
We need photos of groups of people taken pre 1970, preferably with name captions, either at school, sport or at special occasions. We are also seeking photos and names of the first Development Association and or the first Tidy Towns Committee(s). All photographs will be scanned and safely returned to owners. Please place same in an envelope with your name and contact detail written lightly on the reverse of each photo. Also put your contact details Address, telephone and or email address on the envelope.

Operation Transformation:
Nationwide walks take place locally on the 13th. January at 11.00a.m. in Kilkenny Castle Park and Castlecomer Discovery Park. Walks will be led by Kilkenny Recreation and Sports Partnership leaders and walks are suitable for all, buggies, older adults and the whole family. New Bishop of Ossory:
Pope Francis has appointed Fr. Dermot Farrell, Parish Priest of Dunboyne and Kilbride in the Diocese of Meath, as the new Bishop of Ossory. Dermot was born in 1954 in the parish of Castletown-Geoghegan, County Westmeath. After completing the Leaving Certificate at Saint Finian’s College, Mullingar he went to the Seminary at Saint Patrick’s College, Maynooth. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Meath in 1980. He served as a curate in Mullingar for four years and then went to study in Rome. After his return from Rome he was a curate in Tullamore and lectured part-time at Maynooth. He was appointed Vice President of Maynooth College in 1993 and President in 1996. He held the position of President for eleven years and was then appointed parish priest of Dunboyne in September 2007. We wish Dermot every blessing as he prepares for his new role and we assure him of our prayers and support.

The Organisation supports bereaved parents will hold its next monthly Parent Evening on Monday 15th. January from 7.30p.m to 9:00p.m. in the Horse & Jockey Hotel, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. Anam Cara, offers a safe and comfortable setting where you can ‘drop the mask’ and be yourself among people who understand. This event is open to all bereaved parents regardless of the age your child died, or the circumstances of their death, or whether this was recent or not. For more information see anamcara.ie.
