Be Safe this Christmas:

If you are leaving your home even for a short time, do lock all external doors and windows. Make sure all candles and naked lights are out before you leave or before you retire to bed. Be extra careful on the roads during the Christmas season and do show care for others. Safe Driving! With the ‘Text Alert’ in operation please be vigilant and always be aware there is always Garda help close at hand.

Over 80 people attended the village Christmas party at the Community Centre on Sunday 17th December. They were treated to a mulled wine reception, four course meal, goodie prizes and music was provided by the Ford River Trio of Jim Byrne, Eddie and Chalkie White. Many of the Senior Citizens did their party piece as well as many of the helpers. Great thanks is doe to Joe Whyte, Fred, Brid and Aoimhe Malzard, Cathriona Roche, Rose Kelly & Caroline O’Neill who looked after everyone. Thanks to all the entertainers, the young, the not so young and the old.

All of the Stoneyford voluntary groups including SDA, H&H, Tidy Towns, Carrickshock GAA, SARG, Stoneyford United Soccer Club wish to extend a heartfelt thanks to all who gave of their support during the year and would like to take this opportunity to wish all a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas and a bright and healthy New Year.

Photographic Exhibition.

An appeal is made to all in the Stoneyford/Ennisnag community to submit old photographs for possible inclusion in a permanent exhibition which will be mounted at the Community Centre in 2018. Please remember to put your name and address on the envelope and write the caption of the people/place pictured in the photograph on reverse. All photographs will be returned once scanned.

Field Names Project.

Presently both Bernie Kirwan and Jimmy Sheehan are carrying out a field names project on behalf of the Stoneyford/Ennisnag History & Heritage Society. We would ask for the cooperation of landowners and farmers in the area to assist them.

Senior Help Line:

Don’t be lonely this Christmas: Senior Help Line, Ireland’s only national listening service for older people, will be open every day over Christmas and the New Year from 10.00a.m. to 10.00p.m.  We are here to take your call if you are on your own, feeling isolated, worried or would like someone to talk to.  Christmas can be a sad time for many people, and in the midst of apparent universal gaiety, some of us can feel very alone.  Senior Help Line volunteers are trained older people who understand the ups and downs of life, and are happy to listen, to keep company and to support. Lo Call 1850 440 444, (no call costs more than 30cents; all calls completely confidential.)

Suicide Awareness Gathering:

Get Together in St. John’s Church, Kilkenny on Wednesday 3rd. January 2018. Speaker: Mr. Kenneth Egan (2008 Olympic Silver Medalist)

Music by local Kilkenny Artists. All are very welcome.

“Gala Ball”:

The Thomas Hayes Trust will hold a ‘Gala Ball’ on New Years Eve in Hotel Kilkenny. Music by the “The Works Band”. Drinks Reception at 7.30p.m. followed by 4 Course Meal. All proceeds to ‘The Thomas Hayes Trust Fund’; providing ongoing counselling and support for Suicide Awareness in the Community.

Carrickshock G. A. A. Club:

The Club wish to thank all who supported them so generously over the historic 2017. We wish you a happy and holy Christmas and a peaceful 2018.
