The Parents Association are holding a Halloween Fancy Dress Disco on Friday 27th. October at the Community Centre, Hugginstown from 6.30p.m. – 8.00p.m. All Primary School Children together with their parents are very welcome.

Newmarket/Hugginstown Text Alert Group:

Membership is due for renewal on 1st. November. The €10.00 subscription for the year will be collected between 7.00p.m. & 9.00p.m. on Wednesday 1st. November in Hugginstown Community Hall. Thanks for your continued support and new members are most welcome.

Memorial Plaque:

All are invited to the Unveiling of 1916 to 2016 Memorial Plaque in the grounds of St. Beacon’s Church, Mullinavat, Co. Kilkenny on Saturday 28th. October at 3:00p.m. Refreshments afterwards in Parish Church Hall.

Kilkenny People Notes:

John Heddon has stepped down as Local Correspondent after many years’ of service to the Community. We sincerely thank John and wish him well in his retirement from the role. All organisations in the Stoneyford, Newmarket, Hugginstown and Ennisnag area including Churches, Schools, Sports Clubs, Social, Cultural & Voluntary Groups are invited to submit newsworthy items to stoneyfordnews@gmail.com on or before Sunday at 9pm.

Stoneyford Village Notice Board:

A new village notice board has been erected outside Jen’s Café. Local organisations are invited to provide information on an ongoing basis for display. Personal advertising is not permitted on this board however they may be placed on the Community Notice Board at the Centre. Notices by email to doniebutler48@gmail.com.

Stoneyford Village Heritage Board.

The old Local Information board will now carry a graphic depicting the Heritage & History of the area. This is presently at the design process stage. This should prove very popular with visitors and tourists to the area.

Tree fallen at Memorial Garden.

Help is sought with the removal of a tree which has fallen as a consequence of Hurricane Ophelia at the Memorial Garden at Merino Drive, Stoneyford.

Kilkenny County Council:

A delegation from the Stoneyford Development Association is due to meet with Council Executive staff shortly on the implementation of the 2016 Village Renewal Scheme. Topics included under the scheme are; Safe and adequate Parking at both the Community Centre and the National School, provide a safe footpath from the village to Ennisnag, Trees to be planted at Main St, Traffic Calming, restoration of Ennisnag Old Bridge, Restore Village Walls as well as various tourism and heritage initiatives which fit in with the Tidy Towns group.

Stoneyford Community Centre Playing Field & WalkDog Fowling:

Dog owners are reminded not to allow their dog off their lead and to pick up their ‘pooh’ in the bags provided and to safely dispose of same. It is an offence not to do so. Keep our children safe.

Parking at Merino Drive & Community Centre.

Following consultation with the Council and the Garda Siochana patrons of the Bingo and users of other Community Centre activities are reminded that parking at Merino Drive is reserved for Resident’s only. No parking on footpaths. Do NOT block entrances to private residences. Regular breaches will be reported to the Gardai.
