Carrickshock G.A.A. 24 Deireadh Fómhair 2016
Intermediate Hurling
Well done to Carrickshock on reaching the Intermediate County Final on Sunday in Nowlan Park. They were made to fight all the way by Tullaroan, but came through by 1-18 to 1-17. After looking well on top in the 1st half, a half-time lead of 0-11 to 0-7 was well deserved. A good start to the 2nd half put Carrickshock 5 points up after 10 minutes. But Tullaroan came roaring back into it and when John Walton goaled after 14 mins it put them a point in front. But Carrickshock dug deep, and when Kevin Farrell was brought down with a certain goal on, Jamie Power converted the penalty expertly to put Carrickshock a point up with 11 minutes left. From there to the finish it was edge of the seat stuff, but 2 great points in the last 5 minutes – a long range free from John Power into the wind, then a point from a clearly limping Kevin Farrell – were enough to get us over the line. Roll on Sunday week in Nowlan Park!
