Collection in aid of the “St. Vincent de Paul” will take place this weekend 10th./11th. September after all Masses.

Fit Club – exercise classes for over 50’s (men and women) return to Stoneyford Community Hall after the Summer break. Come along and enjoy some gentle exercises in a fun atmosphere with a fully qualified and insured older adult instructor. “Anam Cara”, the national organisation that supports bereaved parents, is holding a Bereavement Information Evening on Monday 19th. September from 7.30p.m. to 9:30p.m. in the Horse & Jockey Hotel, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. The guest speaker for the evening is Brid Carroll. This is a free event open to all bereaved parents. If you are a good listener with a caring personality and would like a chance to make a difference to someone’s day in your community, we’d love to hear from you! Befriending is all about offering companionship on a weekly basis, to an Older Person, who may feel socially isolated or lonely. We are currently looking for male and female volunteers in the following areas: Kilkenny City, Stoneyford, Freshford, Graiguenamanagh and Thomastown. Family Carers Ireland,  Carer of the Year Awards 2016:

Throughout Ireland, Family Carers dedicate themselves to providing remarkable levels of care in the home to their loved ones. Once a year we can give them the acknowledgement they deserve through the Carers of the Year Awards. We need your help to identify these carers. If you know a Carer, whether a relative, neighbour or a friend, who you think should be recognised and rewarded for the extraordinary levels of care they provide to a loved one, then please nominate them.   There are two Categories of Awards: Carer of the Year and Young Carer of the Year and this year we are acknowledging the increasing numbers of young carers and for the first time there will be 4 regional Young Carer of the Year awards. Thank you for your support.

Men on the Move:

Men on the Move is a free 12 week physical activity programme for men who want to start exercising, feel fitter and have more energy.  Kilkenny Recreation and Sports Partnership will begin the activity programme on the week of the 19th. Kilkenny  Age Friendly  Seniors’ Forum Annual Gathering which is taking place on Thursday September 15th. in the Ormonde Hotel, Kilkenny. Teac Tom”:

Would you like to give some of your free time to volunteer in “Teac Tom”? We are seeking new volunteers for the coming year. Volunteers play a crucial role in Teac Tom by helping to promote positive mental health within our community and helping to deliver events and activities for all. Make Apple Juice:

Free Apple Pressing at Mullins Mill in Kells on this Sunday 11th. September from 11.30a.m. to 4.00pm. Bring your own apples and containers and take home delicious fresh apple juice. Bring any amount, from a large shopping bag to a wheelbarrow full, per person. A shopping bag full of apples will create about 5L of apple juice.
