The Irish Cancer Society:
The ‘Volunteer Driver Service’ is a free transport service available to patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment in University Hospital Waterford. To avail of this service, please talk to your healthcare professional or call Gail in the Irish Cancer Society on 01 231 0566.

Year of Mercy:
Pope Francis has asked that each Cathedral would open a ‘Holy Door’ for the Jubilee Year of Mercy. The parishes of the Southern Deanery are holding a Pilgrimage Day in this Jubilee Year on Sunday 19th. June. All will gather in the Black Abbey in Kilkenny at 3.30p.m.; where there will be an opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Leaving the Black Abbey they will make the jubilee walk to the Cathedral stopping along the way at the statue of Our Lady on James’ Green. They will then proceed to through the Holy Door and attend Mass in the Cathedral at 5.30pm. All are welcome.
“Anam Cara”:
‘Anam Cara’, the Organisation that supports bereaved parents, is holding its monthly Parent Evening on Monday 20th. June from 7:30p.m. to 9:00p.m. in the Horse & Jockey Hotel, Thurles. All ‘Anam Cara’ Services are available free of charge to bereaved parents.
Fundraising Trek:
A 12K. Fundraising Trek will take place on Saturday 18th. June in Graiguenamanagh, to raise much needed funds for Brú Columbanus. Brú Columbanus supports families with relatives in Cork Hospitals – by providing “home from home” accommodation for the relatives of seriously ill patients in Cork Hospitals and the Hospice. The walk will leave Graiguenamanagh at 11.00a.m. and walk along the scenic line to St. Mullins (and back). Bicentenary of the Rower Church.
The celebration of Corpus Christi will take place this year in The Rower on the 12th. June. Cardinal Séan Brady will lead the celebration. Mass will be celebrated at 2.30p.m. followed by the Corpus Christi Procession through the village. All are invited to take part in the celebration, which is part of the celebration of the Bicentenary of the Rower Church.
Kilkenny City:
‘Ciclovia’ is now an annual event in Kilkenny City, that transforms the city centre into a great big playground. This year, Ciclovia will take place on Sunday June 12th. and Sunday 19th. from 2.00p.m. to 4.00p.m. each day. High Street will be an open space for pedestrians, cyclists, and the whole community on both Sunday afternoons. The event encourages walking and cycling in a family friendly environment and it generates recreational areas, allowing the people of Kilkenny to make the most of their City Centre. A family cycle will explore some of the cycling routes in the City on both days at 2.00p.m. All this will be done to the backdrop of music and dancing, provided by local musicians and dance troupes. This is another wonderful opportunity for Kilkenny people and visitors alike to stroll along High Street in what promises to be two very enjoyable events.
