Carrickshock Bord na n-Óg 14 Meán Fómhair 2015
Under 12s
Well done to the Carrickshock Under 12s, who won the Piltown Under 12 blitz on Saturday last. They had some very tight games in the groups stages, but came out on top ahead of Windgap, Mullinavat and Piltown. They then faced Carrick Swans, last year’s winners in the final. The lead changed hands several times in a thrilling game before a late goal got Carrickshock over the line by 1-7 to 1-4. The victory was no more than the boys deserved after a season that has seen them go from strength to strength with every game.
Under 14s
Hard luck to the Under 14s, who bowed out of the Under 14 Championship at the hands of Tullaroan last Tuesday in Kilmanagh. This was always going to be a tall order against the League Champions and while the 1st half was evenly contested, Tullaroan had that killer instinct in front of goal and at half-time were 3-5 to 0-5 ahead. An early 2nd half goal put the game beyond reach but Carrickshock battled fiercely and pulled back a couple of goals before it finished 5-10 to 2-6. This season was always going to be a tough one with a very young panel, but the boys had a reasonable league campaign and did get a championship win under their belts. There’s still a couple more challenge and tournament games to come before the end of the season.
Panel: Oisin Carroll, James O’Shea, Luke Hudson, Brendan Fitzpatrick, Patrick Hickey, Mason Byrnes, Padraig Lennon, Luke Dermody, Nathan Murphy, Dima Kenneally, Eoghan O’ Neill, Luke McNamara, Eoin Crowley, Killian Byrnes, Jack McGuirk, Oisin Doyle, Shane Fennelly, Adam Long, Josh Dineen, Darragh Dwyer. Coaches: Padraig Crowley, Barry Hudson, Paul Hickey.
Minors
The minors finished their league campaign last Tuesday against Cloneen in Hugginstown. A 5 minute spell where Cloneen scored 3 goals was the winning of this game, final scoreline 3-12 to 0-12. Next up for the boys now is the Championship quarter-final vs Dicksboro, fixed at the moment for Saturday week, 26 Sep.
Under 10 Blitz
Carrickshock will be hosting an Under 10 blitz this Sunday 20th as part of the Stoneyford field day, 1st game throws in 1.0.
