‘Peace in Christ’; Retreat House, Kilkenny:

During the final weeks of the Diocesan Retreat House, the Sisters are hosting a number of “Open Afternoons”. The Sisters invite the promoters and the people of the parish, who wish to visit Peace in Christ before its official closure on 30th. June, to an informal gathering on Thursday 25th. June from 3.00p.m. to 5.00p.m. It will be an opportunity to recall experiences, share memories and unite in a short prayer of thanksgiving. Light refreshments will be served.

It is with much regret and sadness that the people and the priests of the Diocese have to bid farewell to the Retreat House at Sion Road. The Retreat House was established by Bishop Peter Birch in 1967 and the Sisters have invested so much effort, enthusiasm and commitment to keep alive a spirit of prayer, reflection and a place of peace for all the people of the Diocese. The promoters in each parish deserve great credit in promoting the Parish Evenings and other Retreats. Many people will have attended these Parish Evenings and Retreats over the years. The Confirmation Classes down the years will have very happy memories of doing their Confirmation Retreat there. As priests we had our retreats there before and after our Ordination and also helped out in Parish Evenings and other Retreats. All of these activities have contributed greatly to the spiritual well-being of all of us and we thank all the Sisters who gave their full commitment to the Retreat House, ‘Peace in Christ’.
