Congratulations to Seán.

Seán McGSeán McGuirkuirk  was inducted into the “Hall of Fame” of the Iona College Athletic Department in New York earlier this week. As a college alumni, Sean was honoured for his many achievements in the 1980s.

  • He was the college’s first ever All-American cross country representative – the US colleges equivalent of the All Star awards! Many of his personal best times have stood the test of time in the interim.
  • He still ranks among the Top 10 indoors at 1,500 metres and Mile, as well as top 25 at 3,000 metres.

The presentation was part of a major annual get-together in New Rochelle, attended by Sean and his Family. Get the full run-down on the event, and Sean’s many achievements, here.

A Dub by birth, Sean is by now a well and truly naturalised Aghaviller citizen! He lives with his wife Carol and children Hannah and Jack near Newmarket. He works as Community Physiotherapist for the South Tipp area as well as for the Ceart centre in Callan. In his spare time he manages to transfer some of his sporting expertise to a different code – he is a coach with the Stoneyford Under-13 soccer team. And on these fine summer evenings you’ll often spot him rolling the roads with the Kells Angels Cycling Club.
