If I could take life’s lessons that I’ve learned

And plant them firmly, deep inside your head,

You’d never make the same mistakes I’ve made.

You’d chart a much more ordered course instead.

But God did not intend it in His plan,

It never was nor ever could it be,

For then, I would become the youthful you

And you, dear child, become the aged me.
