On this First Sunday of Lent, Trócaire asks people to remember the thousands of families throughout the world who have been torn apart by conflict and who are beginning their lives again thanks to generous donations to Trócaire from people in Ireland. The Lenten Theme this year is: “Let us protect Christ in our lives, so that we can protect others, so that we can protect creation” (Pope Francis).

Diocese of Ossory Pope John Paul II Youth Pilgrimage to Knock: Young people aged 16 to 20 years are invited to participate in a Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine on Saturday 14th. March. Bus leaving Kilkenny at 7.30a.m sharp.

Lenten Lunch-Time Talks:

A series of Talks will take place on Mondays during Lent at 1.05p.m in the Chapter House, St. Mary’s Cathedral, Kilkenny.

These Talks will be just a short input of about ten minutes and then soup and sandwiches will be provided for all who attend.

Alzheimer’s Disease/Dementia.

Family Carer Training for family carers of people living with Alzheimer’s Disease/Dementia A 5 week Course, held in The Village Day Centre, Kilkenny each Tuesday from 6.00p.m. to 8.30p.m. Starting on Tuesday 24th. February.

Course covers information on dementia and caring for the person with dementia. For more information and to sign up please contact Ruth on 056 777 1230.

Kilkenny Bereavement Support:

The Kilkenny Bereavement Support Group for adults bereaved by suicide will run for 6 consecutive Tuesday nights. It commences on Tuesday 24th. February at 8.00p.m in ‘Villa Maria’, Freshford Road, Kilkenny.

St. Mary’s Cathedral Restoration Fund Draw:

During the last week Bishop Seamus Freeman launched the fundraising campaign in the three Deaneries of the Diocese, necessary to renovate and conserve St. Mary’s Cathedral. This is a very big project in the Diocese and will need the support of every parish. Promoters will be needed in every parish in make the draw a success. If you can help, please let us know. Tickets are available at the moment at €10.00 per month in the Chapter House, Book Shop, St. Mary’s or from Parish House, Hugginstown The draw will be held on the last Wednesday of each month with the first draw on Wednesday 25th. March.

Stoneyford Development Association:

Stoneyford Development Association is holding an information night for the people of Stoneyford on Thursday 26th. February at 8.00p.m. in the Community Centre. This meeting is to bring everybody up to date with the recent developments at the Stoneyford Community Centre e.g. Building Extension; Running/Walking Track, Outdoor Gym Equipment and just opened in the last few days the Stoneyford Community Playground. Nomination Papers will also be available for the upcoming A.G.M. All are very welcome.
