Reflection:
Pope Francis has chosen as the theme for his Message for World Day of Peace, on 1st. January 2015 “No longer slaves, but brothers and sisters”. The theme is inspired by St. Paul’s Letter to Philemon in which the Apostle asks Philemon to recognise his former slave, Onesimus, as his brother in Christ (Philemon 1: 15-16). Pope Francis calls for an end to the “globalisation of indifference” that allows the crime of human trafficking to continue to blight the lives of millions of people throughout the world.
