Social Alarm Monitoring

Stoneyford Development Association in conjunction with the Young At Heart group have launched a campaign to provide elderly people with an Emergency Response facility at the touch of a button. Using the most up to date technology people can have access to an emergency response centre 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This system contacts two local neighbours or friends and then the emergency services if required at the press of a button. This technology provides safety and personal reassurance enabling you, a relative or a friend to live independently within their own home.

Those who are 65+ are entitled to get a grant towards the cost of this technology (Social Monitored Alarm). This grant is issued by the Dept of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, and covers over 80% of the cost and is available through voluntary groups like the Development Association.

April 09 – This grant is currently suspended pending a review by the department.

Nov 2010 We have been informed that grants are available again for eligible persons.
